Wireless Debugging on Android
Android 11 introduced wireless debugging, making it possible to debug without a USB cable.
Prerequisites
- A phone running Android 11 or later.
- Android SDK tools version 30.0.0 or later on the computer. Check the installed version with
adb --version.
Pair with a pairing code
- Enable developer mode on the phone, then enable USB debugging and the wireless debugging option.
- Open Wireless debugging → Pair device with pairing code. Note the pairing code, IP address, and port.
- In a terminal on the computer, run
adb pair ipaddr:port, replacing the address and port with the displayed values, and enter the pairing code when prompted. - Run
adb devices -lto see the connected device.
Pair with a QR code
- Enable developer mode, USB debugging, and wireless debugging on the phone.
- Select QR-code pairing. In Android Studio’s device menu, choose Pair Devices Using WiFi and scan the displayed code with the phone.
